History of PUBLIC TRANSPORT COMPANY - SOFIA, Ltd. In the beginning, between 1901 and 1916 the company was managed by the Belgium anonymous company. Its manager was appointed by the general assembly of the company. The first director was a Bulgarian - Mr. Yuriy Ilkov. He has been managing the company until 1903. Since 1916 the Sofia Municipality has initiated a seizure the company from the Belgium company by establishing a company named Trams and Lighting Directorate. As Mr. Eng. Tzvetan Boyadziev was appointed its director. In 1948, the Sofia City Public Transport Company was established to organize the exploitation of the tram, trolley and bus transport. Up to 1968 there were many changes in the name of the company and finally in 1998 it was named SKGT Holding EAD. The company have five subdivisions. During the next few years the subdivision companies have been transferred into joint-stock companies, where the SKGT Holding EAD is holding 34% and the Municipality is holding 66% of the shares. On
14 December 2002, Metropolitan City Transport State-owned Holding
Company Incorporated, Sofia was transformed into a municipality-owned
individual company of limited liability, named Metropolitan Public
Conveyances Co. Ltd., Sofia, as its bus transport division descended
from it as “International Transportation and Tourism Individual Co.
Ltd., Sofia.” The

rights of the sole owner of Metropolitan Public Conveyances Co. Ltd.,
Sofia shall be exercised by the Metropolitan Municipal Council. The
limited-liability company shall be managed and represented by its manager,
