Functioning of the current systems for validation (charging) of transport documents
in the Public Transport (PT) in Sofia
This system for validation of transport documents includes the following elements and principles:
- The transport documents include: tickets, civil and preferential passes.
- The transport documents are purchased in advance from the established purchasing network and from the urban transport drivers, as well as from the specialized outlets (for the preferential passes).
- The tickets for single journey are validated upon getting of a passenger on the particular vehicle of the PT, by means of punching in any of the conventional punching machines. Validation of tickets for two journeys within 60 min are validated by a special manner (which is indicated on every ticket). When getting on the vehicle, a passenger should have a valid pass.
- Access to PT vehicles is free.
- No inspection of the transport documents is required upon getting on.
- The validity of the transport documents is inspected by inspectors from the Public Transport Company Sofia Ltd. authorities.
- Checks are incidental, i.e. they are not permanent. Passengers without regular travel documents are sanctioned pursuant to the "Regulation for passenger transportation and terms for travelling on the public transport on the territory of the Sofia municipality"
